Business Conference has a Community Mind

Maitland Mercury, 5 May 2004

By Kellie Tranter

Over the past several years businesses have been inundated with legal compliance issues that fundamentally affect business practices. Despite the negative images these issues create many businesses avoid seeking proper legal assistance and try to tackle these issues alone. This is unfortunate.

Win-Win sees life as a cooperative rather than competitive arena. Win-Win is based on the paradigm that there is plenty for everybody and that one person’s success is not achieved at the expense – or exclusion of the success- of others. This approach has been adopted for the Small Business Conference in Maitland on May 7.

The speakers will provide a wide range of ideas and advice to help businesses with raising their own decision making abilities and will create an atmosphere whereby the participants can seize opportunities and problem solve in a more reliable way. Indeed, sharing ideas, facts, and points of view makes everyone more effective and more satisfied. The conference is the first of its kind in Maitland.

Clearly its ability to attract the interest and involvement of speakers (such as minister for the Hunter Michael Costa; prominent local businessman Hilton Grugeon; barrister Stephen Lowe; Hunt & Hunt Lawyers partner Scott Puxty; Tranter Lawyers principal Matthew Tranter, and Acroplan Town Planning specialist Glenn Ziernik) is indicative of its level of importance to Maitland businesses and to the general community.

Abraham Lincoln encapsulated the importance of community involvement in such events when he said, “ public sentiment is everything, with it nothing can fail, without it nothing can succeed.”

We are aiming for a full house at the box office of Maitland Reading Cinemas on May 7.
