Clearing the Air

A concerned Maitland resident contacted me to let me know that rumours are circulating in the Lochinvar area that I am actually on Peter Blackmore's team.  Last week there was another rumour that I was a closet Liberal.  And even before that there were rumours that I was really a Labor supporter.

I don't know whether the rumour mongers are deliberately trying to taint me by these reputed associations, but to me this is the electoral equivalent of the Rutherford stink!  I'd like to clear the air.

I have never been a member of the Liberal party, I have never been a member of the Labor Party and I am certainly not on Peter Blackmore's team. 

Quite the opposite: I have put myself forward as a truly independent candidate in competition with those parties and "teams" because of my belief that party politics and partisan political hacks have left citizens and ratepayers with representatives who want power and influence but who do not act in the interests of citizens as a whole.  

I am and always have been completely independent of any and every political party or group.  And because I propose to stay that way until I find the group that is genuinely motivated by the interests of the people it represents I suspect I'll be an independent for life!
